Abstract: This study evaluates the effectiveness of financial aid in supporting vocational students in Nigeria, examining the impact of scholarships, grants, loans, and financial assistance programs on access, affordability, and retention in vocational education and training. Financial aid plays a critical role in reducing financial barriers, increasing enrollment rates, and promoting equitable access to vocational education opportunities for diverse student populations. The research aims to (1) assess the accessibility and utilization of financial aid programs among vocational students, (2) examine the impact of financial aid on student retention, academic achievement, and career outcomes in vocational programs, and (3) propose recommendations for enhancing financial aid effectiveness and accessibility to support vocational education access and student success. A survey research design is justified to gather insights from vocational students, financial aid officers, and educational administrators familiar with financial aid policies and practices. A sample size of 300 participants will be selected through purposive sampling to represent vocational students, financial aid recipients, and institutional stakeholders in Enugu State. Case studies will examine successful financial aid models and their outcomes in promoting student persistence and educational attainment. Findings indicated positive impacts of financial aid on student enrollment and retention, identified challenges such as funding limitations and application complexity, and highlighted the role of financial literacy and support services in enhancing aid accessibility and effectiveness. Recommendations include expanding need-based aid programs, streamlining application processes, and providing targeted support services to ensure equitable access and effective utilization of financial aid resources for vocational students.
